Antaragni, a place to let your creative horses run free, the cultural fest of IIT Kanpur is back with its Golden Jubilee edition. Transcending all barriers of enthusiasm, it gets bigger and bigger every year and this year is no exception! From 20 October to 23 October, Antaragni will host a plethora of events-blending a series of fine-arts, socio-cultural and literary events, along with a variety of workshops, exhibitions and informal events.
Taking a deeper look into Antaragni reveals its magnificence even better. The International Carnival at Antaragni has been a host to internationally acclaimed talent like Cleva girls, The Flying Eyes, The Bonny Men etc. Taking a step further, this year Antaragni shall host artists from Israel, Bulgaria, and Colombia. The major highlights of the festival are the four Professional Nights(aka Pro-Nites) – Fusion, Electronic Dance Music, Rock and Bollywood- making each night a unique and memorable one. These concerts have witnessed globally popular and eminent personalities including Sonu Nigam, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Sunidhi Chauhan, Vishal-Shekar and bands like The Indian Ocean.
IIT Kanpur gets completely transformed during the four days of Antaragni. A few truly entertaining events that come to mind are- Mridaksh (Personality Pageant), India haat, Director’s Cut, Kavi Sammelan, Calypso etc. Students from various colleges also compete against each other in the fields of Dance, Dramatics, Musicals, Fine Arts, Films and photography as well as English and Hindi literary events. The dance workshops also draw a huge number of people. This is also the time when glamour is at its best in the campus with a large number of Bollywood celebrities making their presence felt at India’s biggest inter-college fashion show-Ritambhara! The biggest, meanest and the awesomest rock fiesta in the country, Synchronicity! Informal events like blind dates, ballroom dance etc are also organised to keep the atmosphere interesting.
This time, in the four days of the golden Jubilee of Antaragni, the Phoenix shall . The audiences can hardly wait for the amazing lineup of celebrities including Mike Candys, DJ Sartek, Madboy Mink, Demonic Resurrection, Karkandey Katju, Pankaj Tripathi, Zayed Khan, Munnawar Rana and the undisclosed name that will perform on the final night. A 3-day medley of dazzling lights, booming melodies and limitless fun in the chill, tropical environs of Goa, is ‘Waves’. BITS Goa’s annual cultural festival ‘Waves’ themed ‘Tides of Time’ will be witnessing a footfall of 40,000+ millennial from 4th – 6th November at the college’s scenic campus. Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, Waves 2016 promises to catapult you back to your fond childhood and to nostalgic memories of the sheer adventure of the 90s. With big names such singer-composer Amit Trivedi and Raghu Ram of Roadies fame, the glitzy Tomorrowland-esque nights during Waves will provide the perfect stage for the youth to let loose. Waves lives up to its reputation as a majestic cultural fest, with the immensely grandiose Big-3 events. Be it Natyanjali, a face-off between the some of the nation’s most talented dance troupes, FashP, fashion parades that ooze glamour and star stunning youngsters modelling high end fashion, or Mr and Ms Waves, the ultimate test of being the crowd favourite, judged by known names from the industry, these events are certainly not to be missed, and feature immensely talented participants from colleges across the country. Kshitij, IIT Kharagpur’s annual techno-management fest, completes its 13th edition with flying colours. The fest has grown exponentially since its inception in 2004 to become Asia’s largest techno-management fest. It saw an overwhelming participation of 70,000 students and has given away prizes worth 65 lakh.It’s website, www.ktj.in, was the largest student run website in the world, receiving 8 million clicks in its 2012 edition.
